Rövid távú, három hónapos jemeni önkéntes projekt 2008. júliusától.
Önkéntesünk beszámolóját itt olvashatod.
Since the publishing branch in Yemen is centralised in Sana'a it is possible to reach out to approximately 10-15 enterprises working in this field. Moreover these, mid-sized companies have already started to cooperate with each other to support skills transfer and education of their employees
The project aims at providing grassroot support for mid-sized publishing enterprises in Yemen in order to improve their services in terms of webdevelopment. The first activity of GLEN participants focusses on all the cooperating enterprises. Their employees working in the field of design and webdevelopment will participate in a seminar prepared and implemented by the GLEN participants. The aim of this seminar is to raise awareness on webdevelopment issues and opportunities arising from the availability of modern technologies. Moreover introductory items on different web technologies are offered.
The second activity aims to improve the quality of job processing and final output within Printart itself. This involves enhancing the cooperation between different job-branches and awareness raising on quality standards (design, handling, printing, etc.).
The development aspect of the project involves first of all the participatory experience in the life of grassroot publishing firms in Yemen. All the partners, through Print Art, are good examples of local business initiative. We would like to show the GLEN participants what indigenous enterpreneurship can bring about and achieve.
For this reason the role we envisage for the GLEN participants is rather not to be change agents in their tasks, but to act as facilitators and provide help in processes when and where it is needed.
The scheduled project time is three months between July and October.
The preparatory phase of the project will take place in English. The GLEN project team will be composed of one German/Swiss and one Hungarian participant.
