Rövid távú, három hónapos ugandai önkéntes projekt 2008. júliusától.

Önkéntesünk beszámolóját itt olvashatod.

The government of Uganda offers free universal primary education to its children. Thanks to this approach education is highly valued. However, in order to continue education to secondary level one needs to pay. Thus many finish their education early. That is why many schools aim at providing informal education apart from following the traditional syllabus. This approach can give children skills that can be used for future income generation.
Zinunula Omunaku Education Centre in Matugga is a private community based school, recognized by the government, that networks with other organizations to bring about sustainable development among children from poor families. In addition to the core syllabus as dictated by the “Government of Uganda”, the school strives to impart skills that can help children earn a living even if they drop out of school because of lack of money to continue.
The school therefore, has focused on music training, art and craft, baking and pastry. However, the school also trains children in computer skills.

GLEN participants will assist in training two groups of teachers and children. They will assist teachers in training the children. The GLEN participants will also conduct activities with children. The areas for training as identified by the school focus mainly on delivering life skills. Learning by doing with hands on is the recommended approach. The GLEN participants can teach computers skills, deliver training in baking skills and pastry. They can assist children and staff on how to play music instruments. Guitar, flute and music keyboard already donated to the school by friends. The school hopes to create a brass band and wishes to train music intensively. If the GLEN participants are into sports they can assist in promoting games and sports especially cycling at Zinunula Omunaku school as well as  Bukoba Social Centre at Kasawo.

The project is scheduled to run between July and September.

The preparatory phase of the project will take place in English. The GLEN project team will be composed of one German and one Hungarian participant.
